About Resourceful Paper, Inc.
Almost 30 years ago, as a couple of country kids, we started Resourceful Paper, Inc., a business of paper recycling. As the years evolved, market changes required diversification beyond simply recycling. Packing paper was first integrated into the business but with sales of it being of a seasonal nature, we decided to think outside the box. We knew we needed to make the most of our resources.
Besides being an entrepreneur, Galen is a race horse enthusiast, horse owner and breeder. He had the common sense idea to use the recycled paper to create an alternative bedding for our horses and other livestock. He wanted a bedding that could also be composted and spread on our fields for fertilizer as well.
Galen had seen cardboard bedding products in ads and on the internet. We tried them and found them unacceptable for bedding our horses. After reviewing all the research available using paper for animal bedding, we used our own horses and conducted our own research. Several friends were also willing to use the paper bedding and offer feedback.
Kathy is a barrel racer and a discretionary horse owner and trainer. By spending a lot of time in the barn, she was adamant that the bedding should have no dust, be easy to pick, and be good for the horse as well. And since she is a 'penny pincher', it had to be economical to use! It especially had to be bedding that could be used to foal out our mares. It actually exceeds our expectations for bedding for the foals… their actions speak louder than words ~ they love it!!
We also use it for our dogs and cats who co-habitate in the dog house. It provides a clean "nest" for summer and a clean warm nest for winter comfort.
For almost 20 years we have been working to improve our product and are now satisfied that Paper Shavings is the bedding that meets our high standards and we feel is superior to other bedding materials available.
The Resourceful Paper, Inc. Team
Larry joined us in the fall of 2010. He is our VP of sales and marketing. Not only does he have many years experience in that field, he also comes with a background of owning horses and pets and knows full well the importance of providing a healthy environment for animals.
Rob is our all around hand. He oversees warehouse operations and production, drives the truck, operates machinery, and fixes whatever needs to be fixed. He also has a background in raising livestock so promoting our bedding comes natural for him.
George has been a loyal employee for 24 years. Along the journey, he has been through the research and development, trials and errors, and doing whatever it takes to get things done. He has stayed committed to our ideals because he believes in our vision.
"Cosmo" and Mike are both dependable employees who have been on the team for several years. Both have the ability to operate the machinery, load trucks, and work wherever needed to keep the operation running smoothly.
